This refers to the editorial, ‘War crimes’ (October 7). After initial denials, the US has admitted that the attack on the charity hospital in Kunduz was a mistake and the decision to strike was made within the US chain of command.
In the face of worldwide condemnation and international pressure, the US had no option but to concede its mistake. It is reported that the charity running the hospital had provided exact GPS coordinates of the facility to the US military. The international community should awaken to the dangers of US military adventures and charge the US administration with war crimes. As suggested in the editorial, an independent investigation needs to be carried out under the UN or ICJ instead of the investigation promised by the US defence secretary.
