Woman killed as car, US Embassy vehicle collide
ISLAMABAD: At least one person was killed and four injured when two cars collided Sunday here at the federal capital's Faisal Avenue Chowk, Geo News reported quoting police as saying.
According to the police, one of the cars involved in the crash belongs to the United States Embassy in Islamabad. The US Embassy car's driver was arrested and a first information report (FIR) registered at the Margalla police station.
The body was shifted to a nearby hospital. According to the station house officer (SHO), Qaiser Gillani, the affected familyresides in Rawalpindi. The deceased woman was identified as Nazia Bibi.
According to a police spokesman, the injured had been shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment. Police said the US Embassy vehicle was being driven by a Pakistani national – Amjad Zaman. Margalla police arrested the driver and registered a first information report (FIR). The spokesman said action against the driver would be taken as per the law.
