BZU assistant professor sacked for harassing girl student
MULTAN: The Bahauddin Zakariya University on Tuesday sacked an assistant professor on the charge of harassing his student.
A girl student lodged her complaint with the BZU administration against Department of Forestry and Range Management assistant professor Dr Wasif Noman alleging that the teacher was harassing her. BZU Registrar Sohaib Rashid said in his notification that the BZU Harassment Committee deeply investigated the matter and found assistant professor guilty and the HC recommended sacking of the teacher.
The BZU Syndicate in its meeting in January last had constituted an inquiry committee headed by BZU Dean of Faculty of Islamic Studies and Languages Prof Dr Muhammad Shafqatullah. The BZU Syndicate constituted the inquiry committee under Section 3 of Peeda Act 2006 on the charges of misconduct.
The inquiry committee found accused assistant professor Dr Wasif Noman guilty of misconduct on account of harassment to a female student of Department of Forestry and Range Management through inappropriate behavior and acts.
BZU Registrar Sohaib Rashid said that proper time and opportunities were given to the assistant professor, but he could not prove his innocence.

According to the prosecution, Muhammad Saleem had murdered the wife of senior journalist Saeed Makwal during a dacoity on July 4, 2019, besides injuring her eight-year-old son Shoaib. The court also awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to the convict.

Talking to reporters, he said the gas disruption is affecting business activities and creating severe troubles for domestic consumers.
