PIMS surgery department gets new head

Islamabad: Professor of General Surgery Dr. S H Waqar has been designated as Head of General Surgery Department at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences against the seat that was vacated by Professor Tanvir Khaliq after his appointment as Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University.

According to a PIMS spokesman, Dr S H Waqar serving in BS-20 is a known general and laparoscopic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience in surgery and has many national and international publications. He is pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in PIMS and has performed more than 5000 laparoscopic operations for gall bladder, said Dr. Waseem Khawaja.
