ABBOTTABAD: Lt Col Amir Jadoon, his wife and two kids who were killed near Gujranwala when a train plunged into a canal when a bridge collapsed on Thursday, were laid to rest at their ancestral graveyard at Nawan Shehr on Friday.
A large number of people attended their funerals at the Frontier Force Regiment (FFR) Centre and also the Nawan Shehr ground where the soldiers presented guard of honour.
The funeral prayers at the FFR centre was attended by civil and military officers, including Commandant Pakistan Military Academy Kakul and Corps Commander Mangla. The provincial Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani and other local politicians and notables were also present on the occasion.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan also visited the residence of Col Amir Jadoon to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.The tragic death of four members of the family, including two children Saifullah and Fatima, has grieved everyone in the city. The extended family of the martyred Lt Col Amir Jadoon was in deep mourning and trying to cope with the tragedy.
Lt Col Amir Jadoon was Engineer Battalion Unit Commander.His father Colonel Sabir Jadoon died about three years back while his mother passed away in 2014. He was the brother of Major Adil Jadoon, Major Imran Jadoon and Adnan Jadoon, an engineer in the Pakistan Air Force.
His maternal uncle Sarfaraz Jadoon, a retired deputy inspector general of police, said that Lt Col Amir Jadoon had married in 2006 and had two children, 10-year old Saifullah, and six-year old Fatima.Earlier, the bodies of Lt Col Amir, his wife and their two children were brought to Abbottabad in a military helicopter.
