‘Ban hate material’
LAHORE: Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab has demanded the government ban five books and monthly journals for hateful content.
Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi while talking to media here Monday stated that board meeting of the Board representatives held here Monday which demanded the government to impose ban on five books for having hateful contents.
Talking to media, Tahir Ashrafi underlined that Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab had been carrying out struggle to purge Pakistan of the menace of terrorism and extremism. No one in Pakistan either in the organisational or individual capacity will be allowed to disrupt peace in the country, he said adding that the Board was committed to promote interfaith harmony.
All the state institutions and law enforcement agencies are on same page with a unanimous stance to eradicate the menace of terrorism and extremism, he said. He stated that Mutahida Ulema Board had devised a very effective mechanism to keep check on publications of hateful content.
Tahir Ashrafi pointed out that Mutahida Ulema Board was also handling 279 other cases moved to the Board from other departments of the province; 30 cases were looked into in last meeting of Board, out of which judgment on 10 cases had been made.
Responding to a query, Tahir Ashrafi stated that amidst prevailing challenges in the country, the representatives of Mutahida Ulema Board Punjab had announced playing an effective role in national security and peaceful harmony in the country.
training: A twelve-day promotion-linked training for the teachers of public sector colleges of Punjab has started at University of Education (UoE) Township Campus in collaboration with the Higher Education Department. Some 44 associate professors from different government colleges of the province are attending the training.
While welcoming the participants, University of Education Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam said the university had arranged best resource persons for the training who would impart knowledge with latest techniques.
