ATC accepts charge sheets against 17 MQM workers

Accused for possession of illegal weapons and explosive materials, charge sheets of 17 Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers were accepted by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday.
Those nominated in the case included Faisal Mehmood alias Faisal Mota, Amir alias Sar Phatta, Ubaidullah alias Ubaid K2, Shah Rasheed Ahmed, Abdul Qadir Hangora, Nadeem Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed, Amir Raza, Rizwan Ali, Tofeeq Ahmed, Faizan, Sajid, Mohammad Noman, Muhammad Asif, Haseebur Reheem and others - they were arrested on March 11 from the party’s headquarter following a raid by the Rangers’.

The ATC concerned ordered to submit the charge sheet against the two accused, Irfan alias Lamba and Tanveer, of murdering Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Zahra Shahid, till May 4.
Three more accused Muhammad Rashid alias Master, Zahid Abbas Zaidi and Kaleemullah were also facing charges in the case. According to Rangers’ personnel all the accused are members of the MQM.
Zahra was shot dead in front of her house, a night before re-elections in a few polling stations of NA-250 in May, 2013.
Arshad Pappu murder
Two eyewitnesses, both policemen, of the Arshad Pappu murder case turned hostile and refused to endorse their previous statements nominating Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Shahjahan Baloch, elected from Lyari, and others for their alleged involvement in the murder.
Amir Haneef and Haq Nawaz submitted that they had not witnessed the murder instead gave the statements after Investigation Officer (IO) Mubeen Ahmed forced them to sign the recorded statements.
The hearing was adjourned till May 5.
Notorious, Lyari gangster, Pappu was brutally killed after being tortured for over an hour on March 16, 2013 along with his brother, Yasir Arafat and their confidant, Juma Shera. They were abducted from a house in DHA.
