21 car thieves arrested, 47 vehicles recovered: IGP
Islamabad : Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Islamabad Police has busted five gangs of car thieves comprising 21 persons during the last two months and recovered 34 snatched and 13 non-custom paid vehicles worth Rs41.6 million from them.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri said that all efforts are being made to curb crime in the city and ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
The IGP also handed over keys of stolen and snatched vehicles to their actual owners. He said that accelerated efforts are being made to curb car lifting incidents. On the occasion, SSP Islamabad Najeeb Ur Rehman Bugvi, SP Investigation Zubair Ahmad Shaikh, Incharge ACLC Inspector Anees Akbar and other police officials were also present.
The IGP appreciated the hard work of SSP Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi and said that crime rate has significantly declined due to his efforts.
Twenty-two (22) vehicles were found stolen from areas of Industrial-Area, Shalimar, Shahzad Town, Koral, Golra, Sihala, Khanna, Margalla, Kohsar, Naseerabad, Sadiqabad, Chontra police stations and remaining 12 from various police stations of Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The nabbed persons have been identified as Bilal s/o Ziarat Khan , Fazal Subhan s/o Muhammad Zarian, Farooq Khan s/o Naiz Ali, Shakeel Ahmed s/o Aziz-Ur-Rehman , Rehmat s/o Gul Zada Afghani, Zuabir Khan s/o Hakeem Khan, Janas Khan s/o Ali Burhan, Shah s/o Umer Gul, Ishfaq s/o Muhammad Akram, Azher Mehmood s/o Ghulam Haider, Shabbar Abbas Shah s/o Azhar Hussain Shah, Asad Ilyas s/o Muhammad Ilyas, Nisar Ali s/o Muhammad Shah, Arshad Ilyas s/o Muhammad Ilyas, Sadaqat Masood, s/o Sahir, Shabbir s/o Muhammad Hanif, Zahoor s/o Mansab Khan, Abbas Khan s/o Muhammad Din, Shakirullah s/o Muhammad Ameer, Habib-Ur-Rehman s/o Shah Nawaz and Faisal Sadiq s/o Muhammad Sadiq.
The IGP said that ACLC is working efficiently under supervision of SSP Islamabad, SP Investigation and In-Charge ACLC Anees Akbar and recovery rate of vehicles by Islamabad police is higher. Talking to media persons, he said that a computerised system has been introduced to ensure effective patrolling in the city. He said that this system is connected with Safe City Project and is very much helpful for effective security in the city.
