A local court on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Junaid Shah, a co-accused in the murder case of Zafir Zuberi, a teenager who was shot dead at Seaview in December in a road rage incident.

The additional district and sessions judge (South) had earlier reserved his order on Shah’s application for bail. Shah had earlier been out on interim bail but in December the court had cancelled it and ordered his arrest.

On December 3, Zafir, a college student, was speeding along Seaview Road with his friends when their car hit a motorcyclist. Instead of stopping, the young men sped away and the friends of the injured motorcyclists, including Khawar and Junaid, chased them and opened fire at them, killing Zafir, who was a passenger.

Rehman claimed that Khawar had chased the Mercedes car the deceased Zafir was in and fired at him which left Zafir critically injured. Khawar himself has confessed that he had fired the gun but claimed that the bullets hit Zafir by accident.

Sharea Faisal firing case

The Judicial Magistrate (East) sent a man accused of aerial firing on Sharea Faisal and threatening citizens on judicial remand to prison on Wednesday.

Separately, an accountability court hearing the corruption reference against Dr Asim Hussain and others has directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit its written reply on Dr Asim’s stance on leaving the country for medical treatment.

In his application, the accused said that he was due to be provided medical treatment at Zia Medical Hospital, Dubai from March 3 to March 9. He prayed to the court to grant him permission to leave for Dubai. The court then directed the NAB prosecutor to submit arguments on the application.
