Gujrat One claims 1000 Guineas of Pakistan title
LAHORE: Favourite Gujrat One put on display great stamina and endurance to claim the 1000 Guineas of Pakistan 2018 Cup here at the Lahore Race Club on Sunday.
In the other two cup races – Anarkali and Nido’s – had Victim of Love and Lady Coryar come up as the winners while the Kaghan Plate races winners were Aftab Princess, Anmol One, Ba Barkat, Kasturi, Prince of Gawalmandi and Auqab Bakar. Factually going it was the day of favourites dominating all the races accept for few place upsets.
The four year old equine Gujrat One led the 1000 Guineas race. It was expected to do so. To start the day, the first of the Kaghan Plate saw favourite Aftab Princess winning the race. Real Commando was expected for s surprise and it came second while Artigal slipped to third position.
The second race of the day saw another favourite Anmol One winning the race but at second position came a surprise given by Bano. Similarly the third position of the race too was an upset staged by Agent 007. The other favourites of the race Denial Brian and Black Smoke ended up nowhere near the top.
Ba Barkat was among the favourite and it won the number one position in the third race. Hornet was favourite but it came second and Neeli The Great secured third position surprising one of the favourites Aye Desert.
In the fourth race, Kasturi was favourite and was the winner too. Well Base of the Built surprisingly came second when everyone was looking towards Very Special for the place. Godla Pride which was carrying a surprise package came third.
The fifth race of the day was Anarkali Cup and here Victim of Love lived up to the expectation. The pony with a fluke Golki Queen claimed second place ahead of Golden Gust that was pushed to the third position contrary to the expectation of becoming second. The main race, 1000 Guineas of Pakistan 2018 has the favourite Gujrat One over the top. And even on the places Loving Memory settled well with Mighty Wings fluttering at the third place. The seventh race which was Nido’s Cup had Lady Coryar as favourite and it came up to the billing. Right to Dream was expected for a surprise and its surprise was second position while People’s Street came surprisingly third. The eighth race has Prince of Gawalmandi as the best option for a win and it did in style. My Son inflicted an upset for second place with Prince becoming third. Marshall Attack was believed to overcome everyone but it failed. The final race of the day has favourite Auqab Bakar was the winner. The second place went to the place favourite Proposal while Sher-i-Niaz Baig was expected to stage an upset but it came third.
