28 SSU commandos complete Navy SEAL training
The counterterrorism training provided by the Pakistan Navy will be an asset and will help effectively challenge terrorists, said Special Security Unit (SSU) Commandant Maqsood Ahmed on Friday.
According to a spokesman, the commandant was speaking as chief guest at the passing out ceremony of the SSU’s second batch of 28 Jawans who have completed an eight-week counterterrorism course at the Naval Special Operations Training Centre in Nathiagali.
Ahmed said the tactical training provided by the navy to SSU commandos would be an asset to efforts to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists.
The training modules included air assault, bus assault, sniper firing, room combat, close quarter battle repelling, basic swimming skills, weapons handling and physical fitness.
The SSU commandant further said Pakistan was facing multi-dimensional challenges of law and order and security. The tactical training would play an effective role for the war against terrorism, he added.
He also appreciated the contribution and support by Captain Imran Khalid, commanding officer of Navy SEAL (sea, air and land), and other training officers for providing this modern tactical training to the SSU commandos.
Ahmed hoped that such training by the Pakistan Navy would continue for the commandos. He said the SSU was giving maximum attention to providing all possible professional training to commandos to effectively crack down on activities of terrorists and hardened criminals.
Later, he gave away a shield to Commando Shoaib as best trainee of the course.
