Conor Benn, Ryan Garcia to settle ‘personal’ rivalry in WBC Welterweight title fight
The fight will take place on September 12
Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia will be fighting in a blockbuster encounter in Las Vegas on September 12th in the first defence of WBC welterweight title.
The announcement comes from Ryan Garcia who disclosed his next opponent on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show on Monday. When asked by Fallon about his opponent, Garcia said, he is “from the other side.”
To clarify the context, he said, “"No, he's from across the pond. I'll just say his name: Conor Benn. He's talking a lot.”
“He actually confronted me at an awards show, two years ago, and my wife was there and he just pressed up on me, grabbed me,” the 27-year-old Californian added.
“Yeah, so it’s a little personal.”
“So, we’ll be ready to go get him, trust me guys! We’ll show them how it’s done!”
Ryan Garcia currently is the holder of WBC welterweight title after defeating Marrio Barrios in February 2026.
