Legislation on the cards on church property sale: minister

Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that legislation is on the cards in Punjab Assembly to pass an act prohibiting the sale, purchase and transfer of Church property by any person without NOC from the government.

According to a handout, he said this while talking to a delegation of lawyers at his office on Sunday. The minister said the province of Sindh had already passed the Act named the Sindh Protection of Communal Properties of Minorities Act 2013 and now Punjab Assembly was going to take this issue for promulgation. 

Khalil Tahir Sandhu said after the 18th Amendment, the concurrent list in the constitution had been abolished and the power was conferred upon the provinces to legislate on this pertinent issue. He said that under the express provisions of the Protection of Communal Properties of Minorities Ordinance 2002, more particularly Section 3 which is mandatory in its application and nature, categorically and strictly proscribed the sale, purchase and transfer of church property by any person without NOC from the federal government. health visitors: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir has said no employee of the Primary and Secondary Health Department will be removed from service. The minister said that 233 contract employees of Mother and Child Health Programme (MNCH) had been regularised and the case of lady health visitors would also be considered sympathetically.
