Pakistan is on the edge of becoming the water-starved country. Recent reports by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) highlighted the alarming situation of the water scarcity. Although the government needs to take action, it is the sad truth that the wastage of water is also on the rise. The need of the hour is to manage our resources properly. People must be careful while using water.
Another thing that needs immediate attention is limited number of dams. This is why the country cannot store enough water to meet its demands. Unfortunately, the government of Pakistan is unable to build consensus among the four provinces to construct more dams for the conservation of water. We can only get rid of this self-created crisis, if the federal and provincial governments take strong initiatives regarding this issue.
