JUI-F losing candidate to file reference against CM’s adviser

Abdul Munim rejects allegations

BISHAM: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)’s former provincial assembly candidate Sher Alam Khan on Saturday accused the Advisor to Chief Minister Abdul Munim Khan of dishonesty and concealing the facts while contesting the elections.

He announced he will file a reference against him in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-seat him.

Speaking at a news conference, Sher Alam Khan claimed that Abdul Munim was a schoolteacher and posted in Kohistan when he was contesting the election for Member Provincial Assembly from his native Shangla district.

Sher Alam was the candidate of the JUI-F for provincial assembly constituency, PK-88 Shangla, in the May 2013 general election. He lost the polls to Abdul Munim.

“Abdul Munim did not resign from the government job when he was running for the election and was elected member provincial assembly. This is violation of ECP rules,” he maintained.

Showing the documents to reporters in support of his claim, Sher Alam said that Abdul Munim was appointed primary schoolteacher in Kohistan on March 14, 1987.

“He was in the service for 26 years and 19 days,” he added. Sher Alam said that Abdul Munim received his last salary Rs28, 815 as primary schoolteacher in March 2013.

“Around Rs4,568 rupees were deducted from his salary on various accounts,” he claimed.

He said that this showed that Abdul Munim Khan concealed the facts from the ECP. “He is no longer ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Amin’ as he is neither truthful nor trustworthy. He should be de-notified as member provincial assembly,” he stressed.

Sher Alam urged the provincial government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan to start the process of accountability from his own party, take back the position of Advisor to Chief Minister from Abdul Munim and recovered whatever salaries and perks he availed during this period of time.

He said he would approach the ECP to seek de-seating of the lawmaker for concealing the facts.

When contacted, Abdul Munim rejected the allegations, saying he never served as schoolteacher in any state-run school in his entire life.

He said that he served as a teacher in a project in 1987 but it wasn’t a government job. “It was just a one-year project. I never served in any state-run school as teacher,” he maintained. He also announced to take to the court all those levelling baseless allegations to defame him.
