Zong’s 4G connectivity on Daewoo

ISLAMABAD: Zong has partnered with Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service to provide 4G internet connectivity to Daewoo buses, cabs and corporate offices, a statement said on Tuesday. “With this partnership, passengers of Daewoo Pakistan will now be able to enjoy the fastest 4G internet speeds with Zong 4G internet on over 35 routes across Pakistan,” it said. Liu Dianfeng, chairman and chief operating officer of Zong and Faisal Ahmed Siddiqui, president Daewoo Pakistan, formalised the partnership.
PFA urged to stop raids

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the Punjab Food Authority to stop sudden raids on ghee and vanaspati manufacturing units and withdraw Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as businessmen are in deep trouble due to raids being conducted by the authority.
Talking to the delegation of Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA), LCCI President Abdul Basit said that businessmen have serious reservations about the sudden raids and misuse of discretionary powers by the Punjab Food Authority.
The delegation members informed the LCCI president that Punjab Food Authority is not taking businessmen into confidence.
The presence of representative of the unit concerned is a must, while taking sample by the authority, but they are doing the other way around. Even the businessmen have no knowledge about the laboratory where samples are being tested.
OIC nations occupy 29pc of agri land

LAHORE: The Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) countries have 29 percent of the world’s total agricultural land, while the share of international GDP of OIC countries in the agricultural department is only 11 percent, a statement said on Tuesday. Around 53 percent of the population of OIC countries lives in rural areas, which is globally more than other areas and its commitment to the total agricultural department is 34 percent.
Around 49 percent population lives in the rural areas, while their commitment to the total agricultural department is 38 percent, it added.
Aptma to stage token sit-in

LAHORE: The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) at an extraordinary emergent meeting has decided to stage token sit-in within its Lahore office till their demands are not met.
The main demands of the association revealed at a press conference included complete ban on intranet with India, reduction of electricity tariff to Rs7 per unit and bringing the gas tariff in Punjab at par with other three provinces.
Most of the association members called for complete closure of the mills till all their demands are met. However, a consensus was developed on token strike every week.
Aptma Central Chairman Amir Fayyaz, Punjab Chairman Syed Ali Ahsan, former chairmen Gohar Ejaz, S M Tanveer and others spoke on the occasion.
Some members considered the protest as mild and wanted to block roads through dharna. They deplored that the government has not announced the textile package agreed with the prime minister two months ago.
