JI urges political parties to join hands against corruption
Baloch says JI to support lawyers’ efforts for Seraiki province
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaqat Baloch Wednesday urged all political parties to join hands against corruption in the country.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers of Multan District Bar, the JI leader said his party would support lawyers’ efforts for Seraiki province.
Baloch said the JI was supporting creation of new provinces on administrative grounds instead dividing people into ethnic groups.
He called for the political parties to play their role to decrease misunderstand between the civil and military leaderships.
He accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of dishonouring his commitments made in All Parties Conference on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He said backtracking on commitments had created insecurity on the country. He demanded constitution of a judicial commission on opposition parties’ Terms of References on Panama Leaks. He said the JI had adopted very clear stance on the constitution of judicial commission from the day first. He said the NAB, FIA and police are politicized. He said in Islamabad in a meeting of opposition parties, he suggested the approval of a resolution from Senate and assemblies demanding the Supreme Court constitute a judicial commission. He stressed the need for constitution of judicial commission on opposition’s TORs.
Baloch said the judicial commission should also chalk out a road map to expose corrupt elements in political parties. He said elimination of corruption is more important than conducting ruthless accountability. He criticized ignoring lawyers in south Punjab in selection of judges in Lahore High Court, adding over 9,000 lawyers were practicing in south Punjab. It was surprising to note that not a single lawyer could be elevated from 9,000 lawyers. It is quite impossible that no lawyer was competent and eligible among 9,000 lawyers. He said LHC CJ Mansoor Ali Shah always fought for justice and merit, and he should review the decision took up by the judicial council. Earlier, speaking on the occasion Multan District Bar president Azimul Haq Pirzada highlighted lawyers’ movement for the creation of Seraiki province.
