Grand alliance opposes Fata’s merger into KP
BARA: The elders of the tribal areas and leaders of Fata Grand Alliance have opposed the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at a jirga at Bagh-e-Naran in Hayatabad on Sunday, former federal ministers Hameedullah Jan Afridi and Malik Waris Khan Afridi said the tribesmen opposed the merger.
Malik Muhammad Ali, Malik Faizullah Jan, Malik Abdul Raziq, Malik Salahuddin, Malik Khan Marjan Wazir and others also spoke on the occasion. They said the infrastructure in the tribal areas had already been destroyed in years-long militancy.
The speakers asked the government to take into confidence the tribal population about the Fata status. “The tribespeople will not accept any decision which is taken without taking them into confidence,” Hameedullah Jan added.
