KARAK: Locals blocked Kohat-Bannu road for hours in protest against arrest of more than 100 workers of foreign oil and gas exploration company by police in Banda Daud Shah here on Thursday.

Locals said the daily wagers of the company had been on strike for the last several weeks and demanding increase in their wages and regularisation of their services.This morning the workers completely banned the movement of the officials and vehicles of the company by blocking the main gate of the facility for the acceptance of their demands.

On blocking the main gate of the facility, the police arrested more than hundred daily wagers and shifted them to Karak, Sabirabad, Band Daud Shah and other police stations.To protest the arrests, the locals took to the streets and blocked Kohat-Bannu GT road for traffic with burning tyres. They demanded the unconditional release of the workers and acceptance of their demands.
