LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has initiated a comprehensive valuation of its commercial assets, awarding the contract to a global professional services firm. The initiative follows a public tender process launched in July and signals the league’s intent to recalibrate its commercial framework.

The valuation process, set to begin later this month and conclude within five weeks, will assess the Fair Market Value of existing franchises, evaluate media rights, live-streaming deals, in-stadia sponsorships, and title sponsorships, and determine the potential value of new franchise teams. The Terms of Reference (TORs) were approved by the PSL Governing Council, aligning with the conditions of franchise agreements nearing completion.

“This valuation marks a pivotal step in the evolution of the PSL,” said PSL CEO Salman Naseer. “By engaging an independent global leading firm we are ensuring absolute transparency and fairness in determining the fair market value of our franchises and commercial rights. This process will give current and prospective stakeholders complete confidence in the league’s growth trajectory and long-term sustainability.”

The valuation will involve stakeholder engagement, market research, and benchmarking exercises, with the firm expected to deliver projections that will guide the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in making informed decisions about franchise renewals and expansion.

An official stated that the PSL has now firmly established as one of the world’s premier T20 leagues. “This valuation is seen as a strategic inflection point. The league’s commercial success, global reach, and cricketing excellence have made it a cornerstone of Pakistan’s sporting identity. As the PCB eyes the addition of new teams and enhanced sponsorship opportunities, the EY-led valuation will serve as a blueprint for sustainable growth.”
