Lahore to have five races today
LAHORE: A thrilling five-race card is set to light up the Lahore Race Club on Sunday evening, as the 8th Day Summer Meeting 2025 unfolds with all races belonging to the Islamabad Plate category of Class-VII, segmented across different divisions.
While the first four races will test the horses’ speed over a 900-metre sprint, the final event will stretch competitors to a longer mile-long challenge.
The day’s opening contest, the Islamabad Plate for Class-VII Division-VII, features a competitive lineup with Thunder Prince (Krc) emerging as the pre-race favourite. Maze is expected to contest strongly for a place finish, while Raftar is being backed as the dark horse with a fluke chance. The rest of the field includes Sultan Again, Good Boy, Gul-e-Kashmir, and Dubai Love, making for a lively contest to kick off the day.
The second race of the day, a combined Division-VI & VII Class-VII affair, sees Thunder Man (Krc) touted as the favourite. Bill Gates is being supported for a place finish, while Mr Asia carries the hopes of the long-shot punters. Also lining up in this race are Rashid Prince, Amigo, Thunder Cloud (Krc), Anni Power, and Drago, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive sprint.
In the third race, assigned to Division-IV & V of Class-VII, Thunder Boy (Krc) commands top billing as the favourite. Monsoon Mischief is a steady pick for place honours, while Daddy Cool is being eyed as a potential upset candidate. Completing the lineup are Haseeb Thunder, Taj Mahal, Nawab Prince, and Pocket Power, all of whom will be looking to make their mark.
The fourth race is a Division-III contest over the standard 900 metres. Desert Parri has earned favouritism based on recent form, while Dubaiwi’s Angel is shaping up as a strong contender for a place. New York City is being quietly backed as a surprise package. Others to watch include Sehar, National Colour, Absolutely Not, and Black Fire, making it one of the most open races of the evening.
Wrapping up the day will be a test of stamina in the mile-long fifth race, catering to Division-I & II horses of Class-VII. Samore City leads the field as the firm favourite, with Mera Gondal considered reliable for a place finish. Yesteryear is tipped for a potential upset, while Golden Heart, Rakaposhi, and Black Master round out the final field of the day.
