Case withdrawn

This letter refers to the news report ‘Assault case against Salman Farooqui closed as complainant backs out’ (July 15, 2025). According to the report, the complainant, in a writtern statement, affirmed that neither he nor his sister were subject to any misconduct by the accused. This contradicts the viral social media which purports to show the accused assaulting the complainant.
A pardon in this context would carry more credibility and substance if it openly acknowledged the incident and then justified the decision to forgive. When justice is both seen and understood to be served even through mercy it strengthens confidence in the system.
