One killed, two hurt as street light pole falls on family
A ramshackle street light pole collapsed on top of a family riding a motorbike near Karsaz on Sharea Faisal on Saturday, killing a man, and injuring his wife and daughter.
The incident occurred on the track heading toward the airport. The casualties were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The deceased was identified as Jameel, 45, and the injured as Fatima, 40, and Inshiya, 16.
The family was travelling from the Drigh Road area toward Karsaz, reportedly on their way to visit relatives. A resident of Cantt Bazaar along Drigh Road, Jameel was the father of two daughters and a son.
The incident caused a temporary disruption in traffic flow on Sharea Faisal, but police later restored it. An investigation has been launched into the incident, focusing on the poor maintenance of public infrastructure.
