CTD submits final charge sheet in Karachi airport suicide attack case
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has filed the final challan in the Karachi airport suicide attack case in an anti-terrorism court (ATC).
The mastermind of the attack, Commander Bashir Baloch alias Bashir Zeb, and Abdul Rehman alias Rehman Gul have been declared absconders in the charge sheet. The court has issued orders for initiating proceedings to declare both of the terrorists proclaimed offenders.
It has also sought details of property of the absconding accused. The ATC had expressed resentment over not filing the final charge sheet during the previous hearing, saying that over five months had passed but the final charge sheet had not yet been presented.
The investigation officer had once again sought time, assuring the court that the final challan would be filed on the next hearing. The suicide attack was carried out on a convoy of Chinese nationals near the Karachi airport in October 2024.
In this attack, two Chinese nationals and one citizen were killed. Six persons, including a woman, were also injured in the incident. According to police, the accused Gul Nisa and Javed have been arrested. Both are accused of facilitating the suicide attack. Bashir Baloch alias Bashir Zeb and Abdul Rehman alias Rehman are still absconding.
