President Zardari voices concern over rising Indian extremism
President underscores historical, cultural, and religious roots of Muslims in subcontinent and stressed need for regional harmony
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed concern over rising extremism in India, particularly the growing threats posed by the Hindutva ideology, and said that the aggressive Hindutva mindset poses serious threats to regional stability.
“Minorities, especially Muslims and Christians, are facing growing prejudice and oppression in India,” he said in a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party leaders and workers at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on the occasion of Eidul Azha, extending Eid greetings to them.
Addressing the gathering, President Asif Ali Zardari, citing the country’s vast potential for development, called for concerted efforts to build a robust and self-reliant national economy. Stressing the need to build a resilient and self-sufficient economy, President Zardari said that Pakistan possesses immense potential for development.
He highlighted agriculture as the backbone of the national economy and emphasized the importance of advancing the country through agricultural growth. “Supporting farmers would strengthen the economy,” he added, urging increased support for the agricultural sector.
President Zardari underscored the historical, cultural, and religious roots of Muslims in the Subcontinent and stressed the need for regional harmony. The president lauded the commitment of PPP workers, calling them the “strength of the party” and commending their support during challenging times. “We must remain loyal to our country and our land,” the president remarked. “Our focus should be on working collectively for national progress.” The president called for unity and collective efforts to ensure national prosperity and sustainable development.
