Intoxicated son kills father with hammer in Surjani Town
In a horrifying incident in Surjani Town, a drunken man brutally murdered his father during a domestic dispute on Monday evening.
Police arrested the suspect and recovered the murder weapons. The incident occurred in a house near Rajput Milk Shop, Razi Goth, Gulshan-e-Surjani, within the jurisdiction of the Surjani Town police station. The 35-year-old suspect, Owais, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, got into an argument with his 50-year-old father Haroon, son of Sheikh Ibrahim.
In a fit of rage, Owais attacked his father, repeatedly striking him on the head with a hammer and cement block, killing him on the spot. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and summoned the Crime Scene Unit for forensic examination. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Police arrested the accused on the spot and seized the murder weapons. According to SHO Ali Shah, the suspect was heavily intoxicated and had been giving conflicting statements during initial interrogation.
Police said the murder may have been triggered after the father scolded his son for drinking alcohol. They added that further investigations would proceed once the suspect became sober. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.
