‘Extra-judicial killing’ protested in Hangu
HANGU: The residents and relatives of a man, who was allegedly killed by police in Qazi Pump area of Hangu district, on Monday staged a protest and demanded the government register a case against the erring personnel.
Ibrahim was allegedly killed by police in the Qazi Pump area the previous day, whose relatives later placed his body on the road and blocked it for traffic for four hours in protest.Speaking to protesters, Farmanullah, Shakeel and Najeebur Rehman alleged that Bilyamina Station House Officer Yaqeen Ali came and killed Ibrahim within the jurisdiction of City Police Station at Qazi Pump area and then shifted his body in a car to the hospital.
They claimed that if Ibrahim was wanted in any case or was a criminal, he should have been arrested and produced in a court.The protestors demanded the government and senior police officials to register a case against the cops involved in Ibrahim’s killing.
On the other hand, District Police officer Muhammad Khalid, in a statement, said there were several cases registered against Ibrahim for drug dealing. He said that Ibrahim opened fire, seeing the police party, which was returned, killing him on the spot while one of his accomplices was taken into custody.
