Nine die in road accidents in 24 hours
LAHORE:The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,205 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, nine people died, whereas 1,404 were injured. Out of these, 571 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 833 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Four drug pushers held; drugs seized
Awan Dhaiwala Chowki police arrested four drug pushers and recovered 44kg charas and 600 gram ice from their possession. The accused were identified as Sher Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Shahbbaz and Shahnaz alias Mami.
Three held for killing guard during robbery
Police arrested three robbers who shot and killed a security guard during a robbery at an under-construction plaza in Bahria Orchard, Raiwind. The robbers identified as Akbar Ali, Atif, and Khayyam had opened fire on Subah Sadiq, a security guard, when he resisted their robbery attempt.
Suspect held for rape attempt on minor
Harbanspura police arrested a man for attempting to rape a nine-year old girl. The victim came to a local shop for buying some goods when the accused identified as Umar lured her into the shop and attempted to rape her. Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim's mother.
Man arrested for torturing wife
A man was arrested by police after he allegedly tortured his wife in a drunken rage in Gulberg Makkah Colony late last night.
According to police, the accused Sharon returned home intoxicated and demanded money from his wife, Sameera. Upon her refusal, he became violent, threatening her with a knife, cutting her hair with scissors, and subjecting her to severe physical abuse. A case was registered, and the accused was arrested on the spot. The victim was provided with medical assistance.
