LAHORE: Chinese Consul General in Lahore Zhao Shiren has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to standing by Pakistan through all circumstances — both in moments of triumph and trials — while advocating for dialogue and diplomacy between Pakistan and India. He stressed that war was not a solution and that both nations must explore constructive and peaceful pathways forward.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with the central Punjab leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), held at the residence of PPP Central Punjab Finance Secretary Ahmad Jawad Rana, Zhao reiterated China’s longstanding partnership with Pakistan on key fronts including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), economic development, and national security infrastructure. He stated unequivocally, “China was, is, and will remain aligned with Pakistan on matters of strategic cooperation, security and economic growth.”
The meeting, which lasted over two-and-a-half hours, saw wide-ranging discussions on various national and regional issues. Zhao highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the peoples of China and Pakistan, asserting that “every Chinese citizen loves Pakistan, and the same warmth and respect is reciprocated by the Pakistani people towards China.” The meeting also saw candid exchanges on international and regional geopolitical developments.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan. Zhao reiterated that China views Pakistan not just as a neighbour or ally, but as a time-tested friend with whom mutual respect and strategic cooperation will always remain paramount.
This high-level engagement reflects the depth and resilience of Pakistan-China relations, especially at a time when regional tensions and domestic political dynamics are shifting rapidly. Both sides agreed on the need for continued dialogue, shared vision and multilateral cooperation for regional stability and prosperity.
