Crime control basic responsibility of police: IGP
LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar presided over a high-level meeting regarding the affairs of the Crime Control Department (CCD) at the Central Police Office on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, IG Punjab said that crime control is the fundamental responsibility of district police. RPOs, DPOs, and CCD regional and district officers will hold weekly coordination meetings. The meeting was attended by Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha, Additional IG Investigation Azhar Akram, DIG CCD Waqas-ul-Hassan, and CCD SPs and DSPs. Punjab Police spokesperson said that the meeting reviewed matters related to the provision of offices, logistics, and transport for the CCD. Regional and district officers of the CCD informed about the provided facilities and additional requirements.
Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha said that a two-day training session has been conducted for all regional and district officers, SSPs, DSPs, and personnel of CCD. A written booklet of SOPs regarding the functioning of CCD has also been prepared, and buildings have been identified for CCD offices and police stations. He said that RPOs and DPOs have provided human resources, offices, logistics, and transport for the CCD. Vehicles, equipment, and other supplies for CCD will soon be purchased from government-approved funds. Citizens will be able to meet CCD officers, including ROs and DOs, daily from 11.00am to 3.00pm in accordance with the SOPs. The CCD will be responsible for the investigation of assigned cases. The investigation of routine cases will be conducted by the district police.
Additional IG South Punjab, RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, DIG Investigation Lahore, DIG Operations Lahore, and regional and district officers of CCD participated in the meeting via video link.
Orders providing quick relief to cops
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, met with police employees and their families on Friday and listened to their problems and issued orders for immediate relief.
According to the details, the DIG Welfare and Finance was directed to provide relief to ASI Samar Iqbal regarding the hearing treatment of his daughter, the DIG Establishment-I was instructed to provide relief on the transfer request of TSI M Saleem.
Similarly, CPO Multan was directed to provide relief on the request for service reinstatement of former Sub-Inspector Shafiq Ahmed and RPO Faisalabad was instructed to provide relief to two ASIs, Safdar Abbas and M Ashraf on their promotion requests. IG Punjab also issued orders on other requests related to discipline, administration, promotion, and welfare.
