MANSEHRA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader and former MPA Mufti Kifayatullah on Thursday said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) should first offer an unconditional apology to his party’s Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman if it was sincere in forming a grant opposition alliance.
“We have been morally supporting PTI, but if it is truly serious about forming a grand opposition alliance, it should first tender an unconditional apology for its 15 years of misconduct with Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” he told reporters at a function here.
Kifayatullah said his party, which has long been striving for the enforcement of Shariah, the elimination of usury, and the eradication of obscenity from society, could be a major part of the proposed opposition alliance and even could oust the government from power, if it’s certain conditions were met.
“If PTI assures us that if the alliance comes into power, it will restore the Friday public holiday, eliminate usury, realign foreign policy, and uphold the supremacy of the Constitution, then we may consider joining it,” he added.
He said that PTI leaders Assad Qaiser, Umar Ayub and others were in contact with Maulana Fazlur Rehman for the future course of action.The JUIF leader reiterated his party’s stance on fresh general elections in the country to tackle inflation, political uncertainty and other contemporary issues.
“These governments, both at the federal and provincial levels, came into being through stolen public mandates and should step down to pave the way for fresh elections,” he added.
