LAHORE: A new drama unfolded in the Pakistan Super League (PSL-10) during a fiery contest between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, as New Zealand batter Colin Munro accused Pakistani off-spinner Iftikhar Ahmed of chucking—a rare and controversial claim in modern cricket.

The incident occurred in the 10th over of Islamabad United’s chase of a 169-run target at Multan Cricket Stadium. Iftikhar delivered a sharp toe-crushing ball, which Munro successfully defended. However, what followed left fans stunned: Munro mimicked an exaggerated illegal bowling action by bending his elbow, an unmistakable suggestion that Iftikhar was chucking.

The act did not go unnoticed. A visibly frustrated Iftikhar walked straight to the on-field umpire to lodge his protest. The situation intensified as Multan Sultans’ players rallied around their bowler, and skipper Mohammad Rizwan confronted Munro in defense of his teammate.

The on-field umpires intervened to de-escalate the tension, allowing the game to continue. Meanwhile, the incident went viral as PSL’s official social media channels shared a clip of the exchange, igniting debates among fans and pundits.

At the time of the incident, Munro was batting on 40 off 23 balls, with Islamabad comfortably positioned at 103 for 1. Ironically, Munro was later dismissed by none other than Iftikhar Ahmed, who managed figures of 2 overs for 20 runs. Islamabad United ultimately secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory, maintaining their unbeaten run in PSL 10.
