IGP reviews crime control department’s targets

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Monday reviewed the proposed targets of Crime Control Department (CCD) for the elimination of organised crime.

Chairing a meeting, the IGP said criminals involved in heinous crimes must be eradicated. Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha, DIG CCD Waqas ul Hassan, SSPs CCD, and senior officers also attended the meeting while officers and personnel of the CCD from constable to inspector rank attended the meeting via video link. Human resources, logistics, TORs, and administrative affairs of the CCD were also discussed.

Rs4m released for 200 cops

IGP, Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Monday released Rs4 million and commendation certificates for 200 officers and personnel. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, each officer and personnel has been awarded a cash prize of Rs20,000 along with a certificate of appreciation for performing duty in a fine way. The IGP said encouragement of cops with outstanding performance will continue at every level.

Police keen to protecting all citizens

DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran Monday said Lahore Police is committed to protecting all religious communities to make the interfaith harmony a hallmark of the city. Talking to reporters, the DIG said provision of peaceful environment to citizens was the top priority of the police.

He lauded police security arrangements during the holy month of Ramazan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Easter festival. The DIG said ahead of Easter, police arrested 26 people involved in aerial firing and recovered a rifle and 2 pistols from them and also made arrests of 193 suspects. He said a special police force was also deployed to prevent harassment and rowdy behavior targeting women. Meanwhile, conducting an open court, the DIG ordered police the ASP Raiwind to take action against culprits who assaulted a religious teacher over a property dispute.
