ISLAMABAD: It has been revealed that the virtual campus of COMSATS University Islamabad has been inactive for the past 9 years.
According to official documents, the virtual campus of the university began admitting students for distance learning in 2012, while the last admissions were made in spring 2016. Meanwhile, further admissions were stopped through a letter issued by the Higher Education Commission on March 7, 2016. However, the last passed-out students from among the already admitted students remained in the university till October 2020.
The HEC ODL policy was announced in 2021 and approved for adoption by all the legal forums of the university, including the Senate. However, the revised HEC ODL policy was issued in 2024, after which the issue of adoption of the policy was again presented to legal forums of the university. The recommendations of the Academic Council and Syndicate have been received and will be presented for final approval in the upcoming Senate meeting of the university.
