King Charles and Queen Camilla plan to visit Spain

King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla are due to pay a state visit to Spain next year.

The last time a British monarch made a royal state visit to Spain was when the late Queen Elizabeth II visited the country in 1988 with her husband, Prince Philip.

The Queen and the late Duke of Edinburgh were hosted by then-King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.

Hello! reported that precise dates for the forthcoming trip have yet to be officially confirmed.

The king and queen are expected to be received by Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia upon their arrival.

The Spanish king’s daughters Princess Leonor, 20, and Infanta Sofia, 19, are also expected to meet the British royals at a state banquet.

Meanwhile, King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their daughters have met the country’s football team who lifted the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy after beating Argentina in the final on Sunday.

The royals travelled to New Jersey to witness the game and cheer on their team.
