Five IHC, BHC addl judges sworn in
Number of judges at BHC has increased to 14 after induction of new judges
ISLAMABAD/QUETTA: Five additional judges took oath of office on Monday — two judges at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and three at the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq administered oath to additional judges Muhammad Azam Khan and Inam Amin Minhas in a ceremony at the capital’s judicial complex.
While BHC Chief Justice Hashim Kakar administered oath to additional judges Asif Reki, Ayub Tareen and Najmuddin Mengal at a ceremony in Quetta. Senior government officials, including the Chief Secretary, Secretary Communications and Works and Secretary Finance attended the ceremony.
The number of judges at the BHC has increased to 14 after the induction of the new judges. Meanwhile, the most senior Additional District and Sessions Judge of Islamabad, Zeba Chaudhry, has been appointed as the acting District and Sessions Judge Islamabad West after the elevation Mohammad Azam Khan as an additional judge of the Islamabad High Court.
The registrar of the Islamabad High Court, Sardar Tahir Sabir, has issued a notification in this regard after the approval of Chief Justice Amir Farooq. According to sources, Judge Zeba Chaudhry is a Grade 20 judicial officer and her promotion is expected soon. She appeared for the competitive examination in 2011 and was directly appointed as an Additional District and Sessions Judge. Judge Zeba Chaudhry’s record in disposing of cases is remarkable.
