This refers to the article, ‘It’s KP, not KPK’ (June 8) by Rahimullah Yusufzai. The writer has referred to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a two-worded name with KP as its abbreviation. He is of the view that the abbreviation ‘KPK’ would be correct if the name was Khyber Pakhtun Khwa.
The writer has ignored the fact that two different words written together does not mean they become a single word. The provincial name consists of three words – Khyber (historical), Pakhtun (ethnic) and Khwa (geographical). Hence, KPK would be the correct abbreviation. It also sounds more rhythmic and pleasant.

This refers to the article, ‘It’s KP, not KPK’ (June 8) by Rahimullah Yusufzai. The writer has pointed out that the correct abbreviation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is KP – not KPK.
The elite class has been using the incorrect abbreviation of KPK. Even Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan are using KPK while referring to the province. It is important for all government officials that they use correct abbreviation of KP instead of KPK.
