Dubai declares special New Year’s festivities for its workforce
"Workers are our partners; we will celebrate the New Year together," says UAE official
DUBAI: Dubai has announced an extraordinary New Year’s celebration for its workforce, featuring free high-speed internet for two days, luxury prizes such as cars and gold jewellery, AED 500,000 in cash rewards, and 30 airline tickets.
This unique initiative shows the emirate’s appreciation for its hardworking community and aims to make the celebrations unforgettable for everyone, Dubai authorities said during a press conference in Dubai to announce New Year celebrations dedicated to the workers.
The theme of the event is “Celebrating Achievements... Building the Future,” to recognise the key role of workers in Dubai’s success.
“This is not just a New Year event; it is a way to thank our workforce for their dedication and hard work,” said Lieutenant General Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai.
The celebration includes exciting entertainment like musical performances by international artists, acrobatic shows, DJ music, and cultural programs that reflect Dubai’s diversity.
At midnight, there will be a spectacular fireworks display. Valuable prizes such as cars, gold bars, electronics, and travel tickets will be given out through lucky draws throughout the event.
“Workers are our partners; we will celebrate the New Year together,” said Secretary-General of the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai, Abdullah Lashkari, while speaking with The News.
He emphasized the pivotal role of the workforce in shaping Dubai’s success. “Our country was built by hardworking workers,” he added, highlighting the significance of honouring their contributions.
The celebrations will happen at Al Quoz, Muhaisnah, and Jebel Ali, with thousands of workers expected to join. Activities will start at 2PM on December 31 and continue until after midnight, offering an enjoyable and festive atmosphere.
Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said, “This event shows Dubai’s values of humanity and social unity. It is our way of thanking those who help in Dubai’s development.
”The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai invites everyone to join this special event to welcome 2025 and honour the workforce that plays a key role in making Dubai a leading global venue.
