Maryam suspends five doctors over HIV transmission
CM criticises poor performance and reprimands nephrology ward head and NMU Registrar
MULTAN: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid a surprise and unscheduled visit to Nishtar Hospital on Friday and suspended five senior doctors, including MS, over the incident of transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) among 25 dialysis patients at the nephrology ward, insiders said.
The CM criticised the poor performance and reprimanded the nephrology ward head and NMU Registrar Prof Dr Ghulam Abbas. She suspended five senior doctors, including MS Dr Kazim, nephrology ward head Prof Dr Ghulam Abbas, Assistant Professor Dr Jahangir, Associate Professor Dr Poonam, Senior Registrar Dr Alamgir. The licenses of all these doctors now stand cancelled after CM’s action. Insiders reported that the CM had asked for the resignation of VC Prof Dr Mehnaz Khakwani, but this could not be confirmed.
