Fizza, Noor shine as Conquerors, Stars record victories

LAHORE: In the sixth round of the National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament, Conquerors extended their unbeaten run, defeating Strikers by 33 runs, while Stars claimed their first win of the competition with a convincing 67-run victory over Invincibles at the LCCA Ground.

After being put in to bat, Conquerors posted 94-5 in their 20 overs, thanks to solid contributions from Komal Khan (19 off 22 balls) and Iman Abid, who remained unbeaten on 22. Despite a slow start, the middle order, including Fatima Khan (11 not out) and Ravail Farhan (11), added crucial runs.

In response, Strikers struggled against a disciplined bowling attack, managing only 61-8 in 20 overs. Skipper Zoofishan Ayyaz stood tall with an unbeaten 27, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered. For Conquerors, Ayesha Imran Riaz claimed two wickets, while Fatima Khan, Laiba Nasir, Minahil Javaid, and Quratulain took one wicket each.

Joint Player of the Match honours were awarded to Fatima Khan and Ayesha Imran Riaz for their impactful performances. In the second match, Fizza Faiz starred with a brilliant knock of 66 off 50 balls, including 10 boundaries and a six. Her innings powered Stars to 120-6 in 20 overs. Memoona Khalid contributed a steady 18 not out. Haniah Ahmer impressed for Invincibles, taking 3 wickets for 11 runs.

Invincibles, however, had no answers for Fiza Noor, who tore through their batting order, picking up 4 wickets for 15 runs. Invincibles were bowled out for just 53 in 17.2 overs. Only Manahil Rafiq reached double figures with 11. Adieyah Noor chipped in with two wickets, while Anaya Khan took one.

Joint Player of the Match honours went to Fizza Faiz and Fiza Noor for their outstanding performances.

The seventh round of the tournament will take place on Saturday, 26 October 2024.
