Islamabad:The Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) opened the second edition of the ‘Connecting Dots Series’ exhibition, curated by miniature artist and cancer survivor Fatima Salman.
Artist and former minister Jamal Shah inaugurated the event, which featured artworks by nine cancer survivor visual artists, including Fatima Salman, Sehar Ansari, Mariah Lookman, Gulnaz Ayaz, Shirin Gheba Najib, Maham Imran, Ambreen Rashid Khan, Nafisa Athar, and Srosh Anwar. Mr Shah appreciated their works, which, he said, powerfully reflected their personal journeys with cancer.
Inspired by her own battle with cancer in 2019, Fatima Salman initiated the Connecting Dots series to offer cancer survivors a platform to share their stories through art. The first exhibition, held in January 2024 at the Shakir Ali Museum in Lahore, received widespread acclaim.
This second edition showcases emotional and inspiring pieces, including a special video tribute to artists who have passed away from cancer. The exhibition also featured the launch of a book ‘My Cancer Journey’ by Shirin Gheba Najib, detailing her personal experience with the disease.
