PAKPATTAN: A fire broke out in the Children’s Ward of the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital on Saturday due to a short-circuit, killing two newborns and injuring two other children.
Out of 75 children admitted to the ward, 66 children were shifted to another ward, while nine children were taken home by their relatives.
Sahiwal Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal supervised the relief work. The RPO, DC and DPO also reached the spot. A committee has been formed by the hospital principal to probe the incident.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident of death of two children due to a fire in the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and has sought a report from commissioner Sahiwal. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families. She said a full investigation should be conducted into the incident and strict action should be taken after determining those responsible.
