WANA: The Wana Welfare Association (Wawa) has initiated a kitchen gardening project at the Zindawar School System in Wana, Lower South Waziristan district.
The initiative aims to address the need for fresh vegetables for home cooking while promoting healthy eating habits within the community.Jalal Wazir, the general secretary of Wawa, shared with the media that teaching staff at various private educational institutions had commenced training students in the art of kitchen gardening. This initiative not only seeks to encourage the cultivation of nutritious vegetables but also aims to meet the household demand for fresh produce.
According to Wazir, the widespread adoption of kitchen gardening has the potential to alleviate many economic challenges faced by the region.By promoting the consumption of fresh vegetables, the initiative also aims to mitigate health problems and diseases, fostering a healthier and more prosperous society, he added.
Wazir urged both government and private school principals to actively promote kitchen gardening among students by incorporating it into school assemblies and highlighting its benefits.He emphasised on the importance of collective support from all stakeholders, including school principals and the Association, to successfully advance the project.
