PESHAWAR: The Government Hasnain Sharif Shaheed No 1 Higher Secondary School in Peshawar City has undergone significant preservation and decoration work, marking a milestone in the city’s cultural legacy under the Peshawar Uplift Programme, Phase-II.

Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, initiated the Phase-II under the directives of the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The programme aims to preserve and enhance the historical significance of key landmarks in Peshawar. The recent completion of preservation work on the Government Hasnain Sharif Shaheed No 1 Higher Secondary School highlights the commitment to preserving Peshawar’s cultural heritage. Additionally, significant progress has been made in preserving the historic treasure office of the Department of Finance and the decoration and restoration of the Agricultural Institute, with 70% of the work completed.

To assess the progress of ongoing projects, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud chaired a project update meeting attended by relevant stakeholders, including Project Engineer Peshawar Uplift Programme Phase-II, representatives from the Department of Archeology and Agriculture, and the Principal of Hasnain Sharif Shaheed Number One School.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Commissioner Mahsud directed the authorities to ensure the timely and transparent completion of projects. He also announced his intention to conduct surprise visits to the restored school to personally review the progress.

The Peshawar Uplift Programme Phase Two is pivotal in preserving Peshawar’s cultural and historical heritage, revitalizing iconic buildings, and promoting tourism in the region. Through these efforts, the programme aims to showcase Peshawar’s rich history and contribute to its overall development.
