PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru made a surprise visit to the Mardan Medical Complex and District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan on Wednesday to evaluate the health facilities provided to patients.
During his visit, the minister toured various medical wards and interacted with patients and their attendants regarding the medical services offered under the Sehat Insaf Card scheme. Toru also issued directives to hospital and district administration officials to promptly address some issues identified during his visit.
Also, he announced plans for a forthcoming meeting with the health minister to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects and to discuss the implementation of major health improvement initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Zahir Shah Toru reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to fulfilling Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, emphasising that the reinstatement of the Health Card scheme aimed to provide free treatment to the public. He criticised the previous caretaker government for discontinuing the free health facility.
In remarks to the media, Toru highlighted the government’s efforts to alleviate economic challenges, stating that the price of roti had been reduced to facilitate the lower and middle classes of society. He clarified that a 100-gram roti would cost Rs15, while a 200-gram roti would be priced at Rs30.
Toru also emphasised that instructions had been issued to commissioners, deputy commissioners, and food department officials to ensure strict enforcement of the new roti prices. He warned that violators would face severe consequences.
Reiterating the commitment of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to service delivery, Toru assured the public that the provincial government would continue its efforts to prioritise initiatives aimed at public welfare.
