KU awards 34 PhD, 130 MPhil degrees in various disciplines

The Advanced Studies & Research Board (ASRB) of the University of Karachi awarded 34 PhD, and 130 MPhil degrees in various disciplines during the recently held ASRB meeting, chaired by KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi the other day.

PhDs were awarded to Abdul Aleem Qureshi, Noorul Huda, Lubna Gulnar and Haris Ahmed, Sana Yaqoob, Muhammad Aamer, Arif Iftikhar Khan, Syed Muddasir Hussain, Mahrukh Khan, Fozia Parveen, Naila Masud, Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Imran, Muhammad Soban, Abrar Ahmed, Muhammad Riaz, Aijaz Bashir, Muhammad Adeel, Tooba Khan, Kanwal Ibrahim, Sobia Ekram, Noorulain Zahra, Aisha Ishaque, M Amjad Ali, Aqil, Ibrahim Noorani, Jabbar Ali, Eruj Wajidi and Noman Ahsan, Muhammad Badar Alam, Anwaruddin Kaka, Muhammad Shakir and Shahnila Nazneen, and Hussain Islam.

MPhils were awarded to 130 students in various disciplines. Saba Habib received hers under the supervision of Dr Fouzia Naz. For the past six years she has been an integral part of the journalistic landscape, demonstrating her commitment to the field.

Currently associated with The News International, Saba continues to contribute her expertise, shaping narratives, and amplifying her voice through the impactful stories and articles she pens.

“Receiving my MPhil degree in mass communication is not just a testament to my academic journey but also a key to unlocking new horizons in my career,” she said.

“As I step into the future, I’m confident that this MPhil degree will serve as a valuable asset, opening doors to opportunities for impactful storytelling, nuanced reporting and a continued commitment to excellence in the realm of mass communication.”

Rehan Saeed, another journalist, was conferred an MPhil degree in journalism. His research was on ‘Twitter’s policy on Kashmir: An Analytical Review’ under the supervision of Dr Osama Shafiq. Saeed is poised to continue shaping narratives and making a meaningful impact through his work in the ever-evolving realm of mass communication.
