ISLAMABAD: Hearing of the Toshakhana case against former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on Tuesday was postponed till today (Wednesday) due to illness of Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir.

The judge heard the Toshakhana case in the Adiala Jail. During the hearing, the statement of Bushra Bibi was recorded under Section 342.

Imran Khan, while addressing Judge Muhammad Bashir, said: “You have dismissed our right to defend. I wanted to cross-examine the witnesses myself, so I request that our right to cross-examine be restored. Do you want to announce the verdict today?”

The judge said that he should not worry.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder said: “We have got the actual price of Toshakhana gifts. We should have cross-examined [the witnesses] for that. I should have exposed the false witnesses. I should have got an opportunity to defend myself. You did everything in a hurry. False witnesses were presented against me.

“The former prime minister was accused of corruption of billions through an office boy. My wife has nothing to do with the case. She is being humiliated by being forcibly dragged into the Toshakhana case. The speed with which the trials are going on, it seems that all the decisions are to be made today. I am saying again and again, my wife has nothing to do with the case. A lie was told through the military secretary of the Prime Minister’s House.”

During the hearing, the judge took a break six times. Due to the ill health of the judge, Imran’s statement could not be recorded. PTI founding chairman’s statement would be recorded on Wednesday morning. The list of witnesses would be presented to the court on behalf of the accused.
