ISLAMABAD: The National Database Registration Authority has issued an official statement addressing a recent video circulating on social media featuring a mobile registration van (MRV).

According to a NADRA spokesperson, MRVs are deployed to provide essential services to citizens living in remote areas, often in response to requests from local communities, social figures, and political representatives.

The specific video in question dates back approximately four months, depicting an MRV parked near Khyber Chowk in the Baldia Town area of Karachi on July 20, 2023. The registration activities were conducted during daylight hours, with the vehicle temporarily stationed in a nearby building due to inclement weather.

The NADRA team efficiently processed several renewals, attending to both male and female applicants.

During the MRV’s operation, local law enforcement officers on patrol approached NADRA personnel to inquire about the nature of their activities. After receiving a satisfactory explanation from the NADRA staff, the police officers departed without further involvement.

The spokesperson said that NADRA, as a national institution, is dedicated to fulfilling its duties in collaboration with other government agencies to ensure the deportation of illegal foreign nationals.

However, the spokesperson also highlighted that there are individuals involved in propagandistic activities against the government’s campaign.

These actions are detrimental to Pakistan’s national interests. The mentioned video is cited as an example of such misleading propaganda, according to the spokesperson.
