Canadian firm keen to invest in KP’s mineral sector

PESHAWAR: A delegation of a Canadian company on Wednesday called on caretaker Minister for Industries and Commerce Aamir Abdullah and expressed interest in investing in the mineral sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A handout said the delegation of Canadian company “TYTAN COPPER” held a meeting with the caretaker minister. Chairman of the company, David Michael Thompson led the delegation.

Secretary Mines and Mineral Development Hamidullah Shah, Director Exploration Muhammad Amir and other relevant officials were also present at the meeting.

The company informed the minister about its activities and expressed its desire to invest in the mineral sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the copper deposits.

The delegation told the caretaker minister that the company wanted to invest in mineral exploration in accordance with international standards. The delegation said the company can invest in marble and granite in the province.

The caretaker minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government valued foreign investment and assured them that investing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be beneficial for the economic prosperity of the province.

He said all possible facilities would be provided to Canadian company for investing in the province. The minister told the delegation that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade would assist them with procedural stages as a one window facility had been established to boost investment. He said the government was establishing industrial zones in mineral potential areas to provide facilities to investors.
