There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself.....

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”

- Steve Maraboli

There is a lot more to beauty than what meets the eye. For some it may be the outward appearances, for others, it is skin deep. At the end of the day, embracing your true self radiates a natural beauty that cannot be diluted or ignored. In a world where everything is money-driven, it is refreshing to see that some companies have more to give the world than just their products. It could be their position to advocate for worthy causes, or the financial resources to help a community project succeed.

Marking a seismic societal shift for women, recently, leading beauty brand, L’Oreal Paris hosted the ‘Worth It Show’ at the ‘PFDC Bridal Week’ in Lahore. The show was a nod to the company’s slogan - ‘We’re worth it’. Earlier this year, the ‘Worth It Show’ was introduced at the Cannes International Film Festival 2018, and was broadcast live globally. Through its unique public agora, it opened up a conversation about women empowerment during the festival. Moreover, in a powerful moment, it talked about bringing women’s voices to all and to unveil the woman behind the actresses, with their stories, their triumphs and their obstacles on the way to feeling ‘worth it’.

Bringing a flavour of this ethos at the bridal week, local spokespersons, Mahira Khan and Mehreen Syed, captivated and moved audiences with their stories, journey and road to women empowerment in Pakistan. Mahira Khan spoke about focusing on a woman’s self-worth and the importance of giving them equal opportunities, “I strongly believe that empowering women with better education, being sensitive towards their wellbeing, health, happiness, ensuring equal opportunities and respecting their rights will go a long way in transforming Pakistan. Here’s to all women knowing that they truly are worth it!”

Furthermore, supermodel Mehreen Syed expressed her joy over the success of the initiative she has been associated with the brand, “I feel lucky in life to be associated with a brand like this, which genuinely believes in empowering women worldwide to feel confident, to control their own lives through education, employment and economic uplift. This year’s ‘Beauty For A Better Life’ programme will enable 500 women from underprivileged socio-economic background including women who are challenged by physical disabilities to gain free of cost beauty training, provide employment opportunities and regain their self-esteem.”

Managing Director of L’Oreal, Musharaf Hai, lauded the passion and charisma of these talented individuals, “We believe in universal values of beauty, hence every woman is worth it. 2018 marked a historic moment for us; with Pakistan’s first entry to an esteemed film festival with Mahira Khan to our ‘Beauty For A Better Life’ programme with Mehreen Syed. We are delighted to collaborate with these two gems as they are truly active champions for women empowerment.”

Here looking forward to more steps taken to spread a truly universal message of empowering beauty for decades.
